Monster Storms of Long Island #4: Hurricane Gloria 1985

The last hurricane where the eye hit Long Island. 100 mph winds were measured in Montauk. There were 11 deaths on L.I. due mostly to falling trees There was $285 million in damage. 750,000 had no power for weeks.  President Reagan declared L.I a disaster area.  Credit: Kendall Rodriguez
