Woman to Oyster Bay: Don't demolish my house

Doina Almazon, of Hicksville, says she has been displaced for nine years, with her house undergoing severe damage during Superstorm Sandy and her family undergoing financial hardship when her ex-husband lost his job. The Town of Oyster Bay is set to demolish her home as soon as Monday. "While we feel terrible for anyone in this situation, the fact remains that a court ordered the demolition of this house as it is unsafe and unfit for human occupancy," town spokesman Brian Nevin wrote in an email Sunday. Almazon says her home is almost ready to be moved back in. Credit: Debbie Egan-Chin
